Ode to a Lady

She keep passing me by

I try to search her eyes

Slanting to sides

Of street corners

Green steal tracks

Urban rats

Could I be the star in her eye

Always searching for the next guy

We watch her on pretty sunny days

Swaying down the street

I run outside just to see

If she will say hi to me

Sweet lady

Lonely eyed

I think she is searching for her colored man

The Chocolate'

The brothas

Why not me mommie

Morena

Senorita

You keep passing me by

Everyday I die to search those eyes

Dark w/worry

Abandon by a frequent smile

I catch her on good days

So I say "Hi baby!"

Try to sound like a brotha

So I don't say too much

I become accustomed to the head nod

Dancing in my constuction boots

"Baby got back"

Damn I drink Jack's tequila

Recite "Tilting at Wind Mills"

She be my peyote & i'll be constantly high

Hoping today she won't pass me by

Sweet black lady

You keep passing me by

I would love to be the man who would hold yr stare

Forever

Sekou

We all know

How Sekou do

Run a rhyme like a track star

Not knowing how far

Reparation

I said reparation.....

Could run

Sekou tongue tapping

Rhythmic African drums

Beating

Daddy o

Daddy o

Fuse in Bird bebopping

w/Arrested Development hip hopping "raining revolution"

Sekou, how do you do the things you do?

Fresh like mojito's at Carlito's cafe

C'mon Sekou

Blow blues through Harlem trees

Unlike a cacaphony

You perform a lyrical symphony

So keep on doing what cha do.....

L O V E

Love is yr bass

Hugging hips

Flicking strings

I'll be yr bass

Love is my mahogany hips

That dip

Sliding into arms

That cradle thoughts of jazz love

Like mused reminder's of tupelo honey

Round mid-night type of love is a bonquet of you

Love is the glow in tangerine light

w/Sketches of Spain

Perfectly narcissistic vanity

Dreamed & delivered between sheets

You know that lollipop love

The mood love

So here I go again

Writing another crazy poem

About love

Another sad Nina Simone song

Sung in a poem

Yeah! you heard it all before

So here I go again

Alone w/pen & paper

Cold full moon nights

Full of you

The you that left whispers along the side of my neck

Filling my ear w/yr love words

You wanted to feed me

Feed me some of you

To make my belly swell

So you said

Hey baby

You're my honey

I want to give you a taste of me

I'll feed you my seed you see

I want

I want

I want

A part of me to go

Baby to grow

Baby to flow

Inside you & become me & you of we

So it can remind you of lovin me

So there I go trippin

Over words spoken in the night

There I go like "Moody's mood for love"

(song break)

There I go

There I go

Totally out of control

Jazzing for that body melted in chocolate dipped in everything good love

High Blues

Summertime Blues

Whew!

Today

Yesterday

Like any other day

Is just full of flowered thoughts

I bought on the corner of 116th street

Long time ago

Letting go

The monkey man on the back

Clouded by my own interpretation of how life should be

Sitting w/the blues strumming me into afternoon naps

Head nodding jazz plays continuously

Even my walk is full of moody blue sashays

Who figure this black woman is the rhythm of grim guitars

Parlay through a hot Harlem subway

Catching the night train hoping to drown my blues

They lay lazy

Floating lithium highs

Heroin satisfied

Dipped into blueberries

Slowly I languish the fiend

Ginsberg trips

Hippy child

I always said I would rather be high

Then come down facing reality

So summertime blues

Today

Yesterday

Like any other day

Is a blue day
